Privacy

The current Production application provides the Question of the Day and AI explanation features. Interest Feedback may be shown when its release controls are enabled. Community features and the measurement and display of municipalities recently explored on JAM are disabled. JAM has no general inquiry form, newsletter, advertising, or behavioral tracking features. JAM uses limited first-party measurement to operate its AI explanation feature and understand its usage and cost.

The current Production application does not use Community authentication, so that feature does not issue Supabase Auth session cookies. Language is represented by /ja or /en in the URL and is not saved in a language cookie. JAM does not use cookies for advertising, analytics, or behavioral tracking.

Community features are disabled in the current Production application. JAM does not currently provide account creation, sign-in, one-time-code delivery, transmission of email addresses to Supabase Auth, Community session cookies, or storage of Community accounts, roles, or posts.

If JAM offers Community features in the future, this Privacy page will be updated before launch to explain the information processed, cookies, storage providers, purposes, retention periods, and deletion process.

JAM does not use Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, external analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, advertising, or targeting. When you request an AI explanation, the browser sends the municipality code, language, and fixed question identifier to JAM. JAM's server sends these fields, Evidence artifact identification, candidate IDs, and short reviewed selection hints to OpenAI to select relevant information. The browser does not connect directly to OpenAI.

For AI operation measurement, JAM stores the municipality code, language, fixed question identifier, click and cache outcome, and metadata such as provider, model, processing outcome, token counts, estimated cost, and latency. JAM does not assign a user, session, or persistent identifier and does not store raw IP addresses, User-Agent strings, cookies, prompts, Evidence content, or provider raw output in its measurement tables. Individual AI usage events are retained for 30 days; daily aggregates are retained longer. The data is used only for service operation and AI usage and cost measurement, not advertising or tracking.

When you answer the Question of the Day, JAM receives the question ID, content version, and option ID and immediately adds the answer to a nationwide aggregate for that JST date. JAM does not retain an individual vote record. Results are shown as aggregate responses received from JAM visitors and are not official statistics.

JAM's voting database does not store a user ID, session ID, persistent ID, raw IP address, User-Agent string, fingerprint, cookie, or region. This browser stores only a marker that the current daily question was answered, not the selected answer. The marker becomes invalid when the JST date changes and is removed or overwritten on a later visit. The server or hosting platform may process network source information to prevent abuse, but it is not used for advertising, targeting, or behavioral tracking.

When you respond to JAM's Topic Poll, the poll ID and option ID are sent to JAM and added to the aggregate count for that option. Responses help JAM consider future topics for Discovery, HOT, Today, and related content. JAM does not create an individual response record or publish poll results, and the poll is not treated as representative research or a one-person-one-vote election.

JAM's poll database does not store a user ID, session ID, persistent ID, raw IP address, User-Agent string, fingerprint, cookie, device ID, nationality, location, or browsing history. This browser stores only the answered poll ID; it does not store the selected topic. The server or hosting platform may process network source information to prevent abuse. Aggregate counts are retained for content-planning review for up to 90 days after the poll closes and are then removed through operational maintenance. The data is not used for advertising, individual profiles, or browsing analytics.

When Interest Feedback is enabled and you submit it, JAM stores the text you enter, the displayed language, the pathname of the page where you submitted it, and the submission time. The text is not published and is used to guide future content planning and service improvements. Please do not enter personal information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses.

JAM does not store a user ID, session ID, persistent identifier, cookie, fingerprint, IP address, User-Agent string, referrer, query string, or precise location in the feedback database. Raw text becomes eligible for automatic deletion after 90 days, and the deletion process normally runs hourly. Under normal operation, it is removed from the live application database within approximately one hour after becoming eligible, but scheduler failures may delay removal. It may remain in provider-managed encrypted backups for the provider’s backup-retention period; those backups are used only for disaster recovery and are not available through ordinary application access. Classifications and aggregate counts that do not contain the raw text may be retained longer. JAM’s server or hosting provider may process network source information to prevent abuse. The data is not used for advertising, individual profiles, or behavioral tracking.

Measurement, daily aggregation, and public display of municipalities recently explored on JAM are disabled in the current Production application. Municipality profile views are not recorded in the Trending Places database and no aggregate results are displayed.

In the current Production application, JAM does not store a municipality code or JST date marker in this browser for Trending Places and does not send a measurement request containing the municipality code. JAM also does not create a user, session, or cross-device identifier for Trending Places.

JAM stores only the JST dates on which you viewed Daily, for the past 365 days, in this browser. This history is not sent to the server and is removed if you clear your browser data. It is not used for analytics, advertising, or targeting.

JAM stores up to five recently viewed areas in this browser. Each entry expires after 30 days, and you can remove entries from Area Search. JAM does not send or store the Recently Viewed history list in its database. JAM may check whether the statistical data shown for a recently viewed area has been updated. The list is not used for analytics, advertising, or targeting.

JAM stores up to 10 municipalities that you explicitly save from a municipality profile in this browser. A saved place remains until you remove it or clear your browser data. JAM does not send the list to a server, database, or account and does not use cross-device synchronization, cookies, or notifications for it. The list is not used for analytics, advertising, or targeting.

JAM retrieves and processes statistical data through its own application infrastructure. The visitor's browser does not connect directly to the statistics database. Neither the Recently Viewed history list nor the Saved Places list is stored in JAM's database or an account.

Google Maps is an external service provided by Google. Selecting a link leaves JAM and opens Google Maps in a new tab. Google's terms and privacy policy apply after navigation. JAM does not embed Google Maps or automatically connect to it before you select a link.

JAM displays an editorial, static event catalog and does not provide an event application form. An external organizer or official information page is opened only after you select its link. The outbound URL may contain JAM referral UTM parameters, but they do not contain user, session, nationality, or browsing-history identifiers. JAM does not automatically connect to the destination before selection.

Sharing occurs only after you choose it, through your browser or device's sharing function or by copying to the clipboard. JAM does not load external social-network features for sharing.

JAM does not provide a general inquiry form. Interest Feedback is a separate feature for content ideas and is not an inquiry channel. Selecting the contact@japanmosaic.jp or events@japanmosaic.jp mail link opens your email client or service. If you send a message, the recipient receives the information you choose to send, such as your sender address, subject, body, and attachments.

JAM obtains official statistics from e-Stat and uses Supabase for database and backend storage. Vercel provides application hosting, server execution, and security controls such as a web application firewall. JAM uses OpenAI as the AI explanation provider. Statistical-data and AI processing pass through JAM's server; the visitor's browser does not connect directly to e-Stat, the statistics database, or OpenAI.
